Creating the schools our youth need and deserve

June 21-June 24

For teachers, youth activists, parents, community members and school leaders who want to transform schools

We’re tired of our kids getting the short end of the stick.

It’s time to break down the silos of isolated innovation so we can build a critical mass and transform the educational model to something that’s relevant to the human children in our classrooms.

In the EdActive Summit, you’ll:

  • Learn of models that have us so fired up to replace the old assembly-line model
  • Gain tangible information so you can help drive the conversation in your area
  • Connect with other leaders and action-takers so you can take the first or next steps to impact change
  • Gain access to a variety of resources to support you as a Change Activator

And as a result? You’ll have the tools, team, and steps to help you become an educational activist.

Over 4 days, 25 speakers and educational experts will teach you strategies you can use to shift the narrative of education today so you can make a change.

Maybe you’re...

  • Tired of watching your children or students fall between the cracks because they don’t fit the mold someone else has established
  • Frustrated by the endless standardized tests that only serve one purpose: to ensure the school gets the dollars it’s expecting
  • Wanting to eliminate test-centric, content-focused teaching models so we can focus on the whole child

Whatever it is for you, it’s time to throw out the old-school educational system and usher in one that is equitable, relevant, and student-driven.

You can help lead that change.

Maureen O’Shaughnessy, EdD, is a career school innovator with over 30 years of transforming learning in schools to better serve all students and author of Creating Micro-Schools for Colorful Mismatched Kids.

She is the founding director of Leadership Preparatory Academy (2013), a nonprofit , innovative, human-centered micro-school in Washington State; and Micro-School Coalition (2019), a cooperative of micro-schools across the globe. Maureen offers consulting and the “Build Your Own Micro-School” class and Small School Leaders Mastermind, guiding schools to open across the US. She has been interviewed by Good Morning America and many other media sources. And now as founder of the Education Evolution podcast (May, 2020), she aims to disrupt the education climate as we know it to help ensure each child is seen, heard and valued and met where they are academically, socially and emotionally.

Her EdActive leadership team includes Trace Pickering of Iowa BIG, Meg Ormiston of Tech Teachers, and Pam Gordon of Big Picture Learning.

The EdActive Summit will run from June 21 to 24 with a variety of presentations to choose from each day. Tuesday, June 22 is our special Intergenerational Day, with YouthxYouth and UP for Learning hosting a day-long interactive change process.

We know you’re busy on a good day, even in the summer. That’s why this summit is completely virtual. Attend from the comfort of your home, the library, your car--even during your beach vacation.

Presentations will each be about 30 minutes in length. The presentations will be available for 24 hours after they go live to encourage you to stop waiting for the right time and take action along with hundreds of other leaders and activists.

You’ll also have access to a private Facebook group for the summit where we’ll be partying it up before the summit starts and working together to transform our educational system once it kicks off.

After registering, you can also upgrade to gain access to the VIP Pass. That means  you'll get lifetime access to presentations and free gifts and resources from our speakers. You won't want to miss it!

There are a lot of summits, trainings, and workshops out there. So what makes this one different?

First, this summit was created specifically for educational leaders, activists, concerned parents, and youth who are ready to change the direction of education to one that breaks down silos and creates massive action.

Every presentation will inspire you and encourage you to think outside the box for the betterment of our children, our future. And our roundtables will encourage you to take action. The EdActive Collective meets quarterly and is leading affinity groups throughout the year. So join a team and work with us to keep the momentum going year-round.

Intergenerational Day

Join our intergenerational youth day on June 22. It features actionable conversations led by youth--for both youth and action-oriented leaders. These amazing young activists will show you the possibilities and how education looks from their perspective.

You will hear from:

  • UP for Learning on why NOW is the time for change
  • YouthxYouth on what if and what now
  • Heirs to Our Oceans on how they’ve taken the lead

And we’ll come together to start planning what your next action step will be.

The intergenerational day is designed for educational leaders, parents, concerned citizens, and youth and requires a separate (free!) registration.

We firmly believe that Black Lives Matter and are dedicated to supporting Black Youth Project, a forum for knowledge, voice, and action to support African American youth socially and politically. We will donate all proceeds from the VIP upgrade ticket to Black Youth Project.

Now for the part you’ve been waiting for. Here are the amazing speakers you’ll hear from at the EdActive Summit.

Is this only for teachers and educators?

Absolutely not. This summit is for educational leaders, activists, concerned parents, teachers, youth, and more. It’s for anyone who is sick and tired of the assembly-line educational model we have today and who wants to make a change.

When is this whole thing happening?

The summit runs from Monday, June 21 through Thursday, June 24. We'll kick off on Sunday, June 20 with an opening call and the Facebook community will be available right when you get your ticket!

How long will the videos be available?

Each video will be available for 24 hours. However, you can grab the VIP ticket to get lifetime access to all of the videos and additional resources and tools from the speakers!
